Taipei book fair slated for Feb. 12 through 17
The 2019 Taipei International Book Exhibition will take place at Hall 1 and 3 of the Taipei World Trade Center from Feb. 12 through 17 under the theme "Time for Reading." Over 700 publishing representatives and 20 nations will be in attendance.
Writers to share their residency experiences at book fair
The National Museum of Taiwan Literature has organized a series of forums at the 2019 Taipei International Book Exhibition featuring Taiwanese literary artists who have recently completed international residency programs in Europe and the United States.
Plans laid out for Cultural Content Institute
After the Jan. 9 promulgation by the president of the Act for the Establishment of the Cultural Content Institute, the Ministry of Culture is working to establish the Cultural Content Institute (CCI) within the first half of this year.

"Silk-wrapped flowers" are made through a process of wrapping and winding silk, paper-cutting, and needlepoint. Generally made with 12 different techniques and assembled from some 15 pieces, they are an art of an impressive level of complexity.

Banana-fiber weaving is unique to the Taiwanese tribe of Kavalan. Only a material as small but strong as banana fiber could weather the ravages of time as it does, and it is that strength that has helped it tie the tribe's past and its present so tightly.
