This year, the Cultural Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Spain has collaborated with YIRI ARTS and Chini Gallery to organize the 2023 Taiwan Art Week in Madrid. Works by four young Taiwanese artists with distinct styles are featured at Art Madrid and Hybrid Art Fair.
Taiwanese new media artist Huang Hsin-chien presents his solo exhibition titled "The Data We Called Home" at the Pratt Manhattan Gallery in New York for the first time from Sep. 23, 2022 to Feb. 28, 2023. In the show, Huang explores spiritual, political, and literary themes in four virtual reality films, sculptures, and videos.
Following the successful test run in March 2022, the inaugural edition of the Focasa Circus Festival holds officially at Tainan's Shueijiaoshe Cultural Park from Feb. 22 to 28. FOCASA will feature circus artists from Taiwan, France, Australia, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, and Cambodia.

In observance of International Mother Language Day, the Ministry of Culture collaborated with the Ministry of Education, Council of Indigenous Peoples, and Hakka Affairs Council to host the 2023 National Language and Culture Festival at the Huashan 1914 Creative Park on Feb. 18 and 19.

The National Museum of Taiwan Literature (NMTL) has launched an English-language walking tour and game activities to offer foreign travelers a local experience with the aim of introducing Taiwanese literature. NMTL director Nikky Lin stated that literature has the potential in helping foreign visitors gain a better understanding of Taiwan.

Taiwanese short film "Tank Fairy" has recently won the Asia-Pacific Queer Film Festival Alliance short film award following its win for Best Narrative Short at the San Francisco International LGBTQ+ Film Festival, Frameline46. The short tells a story of a boy who embarks on a journey to explore gender identity after meeting a drag queen.
Cultural Features
Chen Kuo-Cheng, better known by his nom de plume Wuhe, was born in Chiayi City in 1951. He graduated from the Department of Chinese Literature at National Cheng Kung University before going on to the Department of Chinese at National Taiwan Normal University and at the Graduate Institute of Creative Writing and English Literature at National Dong Hwa University, however, he earned a degree from neither of the latter.

Academy of Taiwan Strings was founded in 1990 by Cheng Sy-joun, a famous Taiwanese violinist who studied at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in Belgium. Listening to Italian soloists and ensembles of professors from the Conservatorio di Musica Santa Cecilia, Cheng was inspired to assemble young Taiwanese string musicians who had studied in the West and form a chamber orchestra without a conductor.
