The National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) officially opened on Oct. 13, ushering in a new chapter in Taiwan's performing arts history. Weiwuying will be southern Taiwan's flagship arts space, not only providing a platform for artistic exchange, but also a stage for the voices of the people.
On Oct. 11, Nobel laureate and former State President of South Africa F.W. de Klerk made a personal visit to the National Human Rights Museum's Jing-Mei White Terror Memorial Park. President de Klerk remarked that in the face of historical mistakes, only through sincere moves toward reconciliation can a nation truly move forward.
In early 2018 the National Human Rights Museum consulted with victims; scholars of history, law, and politics; and the relevant ministries, and after taking into consideration existing laws and regulations, developed a system by which members of the public may check the catalogue of White Terror dossiers and request access.
