Indonesian Dancers & Taiwanese Troupe Bring Forth New Theater Productions
In this transnational exchange, Indonesian dancer Agung Gunawan was invited to tailor a physical training program for The Party Theatre Group in Taiwan.
Using his knowledge of traditional Indonesian mask dance, which is filled with dramatic tension, and the sumptuous Java court dance, he introduced new techniques that also took into consideration the distinct personalities and physical traits of each dancer.
The Indonesian expert also choreographed new movements for the Party Theatre's iconic "The Legend of White Snake” production. The re-interpreted version shone with Southeast Asian elements and incorporated more fluid movement and physical expressiveness.
