The 58th Festival Off Avignon in France was inaugurated on July 2, launching a record-setting 1,666 shows that have 25,000 performances within three weeks. During the opening event, the group of Taiwanese performers led the parade.
The Cultural Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia, in collaboration with the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre and the George Town Festival in Penang, has jointly invited Taiwan's GuoGuang Opera Company. 
The "Tradition and Innovation - Pili Glove Puppetry Exhibition" was inaugurated at the Taiwan Cultural Center in Tokyo on June 20. The exhibition features classic characters along with costumes from the Taiwan-Japan production "Thunderbolt Fantasy."

The Ministry of Culture announced that the 2024 Creative Expo Taiwan will be held in Tainan City from Aug. 23 to Sept. 1. This year's theme, "Hundred Faces of the Treasure Island," highlights Taiwan's rich history and culture.

Commemorating the 37th anniversary of the lifting of martial law in Taiwan, the National Human Rights Museum has launched an online exhibition showcasing the former Taiwan Military Prison of the Ministry of National Defense.

On July 16, Director Chen Kuang-yi of the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts and Director Eugene Tan of the National Gallery Singapore signed a memorandum of understanding, formalizing a partnership between the two national art institutions.
Cultural Features
Born in Shanghai, China, in 1935, Hsiao Chin moved to Taiwan with his family in 1949. He enrolled at Taiwan Provincial Normal School (now National Taipei University of Education) in 1951. The next year, Hsiao began to study painting with master Li Chun-Shan, whose unorthodox art pedagogy inspired Hsiao Chin greatly.

Located in Rende District of Tainan City, the Chimei Museum was established by Shi Wen-long, the founder of Chi Mei Corporation. With about 13,000 artifacts, the private art museum has the richest collections in Taiwan. Its collections are divided into four parts: Western art, musical instruments, weaponry, and natural history.
