The Taiwan Cultural Center in Paris joined hands with the 45th Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival to organize a series of events with the theme "2023 Country in Focus: Taiwan." A total of 67 works vying in the festival's "International Competition” will be screened until Feb. 4.
Taiwanese artist Poyen Wang, residency artist at Triangle Arts Association in New York, is holding a solo exhibition "Endearing Insanity." The exhibition is named after Wang's latest video work which is a 9-minute film using 3D computer graphics, alongside a series of still images derived from the film.
Taiwanese new media artist Huang Hsin-chien presents his solo exhibition titled "The Data We Called Home" at the Pratt Manhattan Gallery in New York for the first time from Sep. 23, 2022 to Feb. 28, 2023. In the show, Huang explores spiritual, political, and literary themes in four virtual reality films, sculptures, and videos.

Curtain rises on 31st Taipei International Book Exhibition
The 31st Taipei International Book Exhibition kicked off on Jan. 31 in Taipei. With Poland serving as the guest of honor, the exhibition sections of the 2023 edition are designed to provide a multi-sensory experience for visitors, while attempting to apply the practices of net zero emissions and low carbon economy.
Taiwan Traditional Theatre Festival to kick off in April
The Taiwan Traditional Theatre Festival will return for its sixth edition at the Taiwan Traditional Theatre Center (TTTC) from Apr. 6 to May 28. Under the theme of "Hero · Hyperspace," 12 performing groups will present 53 rounds of performances including traditional opera and interdisciplinary productions.
London residency program for Taiwanese artists, curators
The Taipei Representative Office in the U.K., in continuous collaboration with the London-based Delfina Foundation, is offering a three-month residency program for a Taiwanese artist or curator which will take place from July 3 to Sep. 24 in London. Submissions will be accepted from now until Feb. 28.

Wen Hsia was born Wang Jui-ho in Tainan in 1928. He showed a talent for singing from an early age. Over the years, he penned more than 1,200 songs, of which fully 99 were listed as banned songs during Taiwan's decades of martial law. This mammoth number made Wen the singer with the single largest number of banned songs to his name, earning him the nickname "King of the Forbidden Songs."

Collage is a Taiwanese duo, singer Natsuko Lariyod and guitarist Ông Ka-koân, which was formed on January 31, 2019. Just like their name, their music is a collage of elements and styles. Collage won the Best Newcomer Award at the 33rd Golden Melody Awards in 2022 with their debut album "Memento Mori." After winning, they dedicated their music to all of those who work hard for their race, language, gender, and music.
