The 11th Presidential Culture Awards ceremony, organized by the General Association of Chinese Culture, was held on Nov. 30 to award this year's five winners, which include film director Ang Lee, physician Chen Rong-chi, founder of HRC Dance Studio Bojin Chen, the Dr. Chen Wen-chen Memorial Foundation, and the Taiwan Thousand Miles Trail Association.
Culture Minister Lee Yung-te visited the Lukang Township in Changhua County, known for its rich cultural heritages, to examine the restoration process of Lukang Longshan Temple, a national historic site, and pay visits to four preservers of "Important Traditional Crafts" on Nov. 29.
With the support of the Cultural Division of the Taipei Representative Office in the UK, professor Chris Berry of King's College London organized screenings of several Taiwanese-language films at the Skalvija theater in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, from Nov. 17 to 21.
