Tsai Ming-liang, the world-renowned avant-garde director, makes his first public visit to the United States in over a decade. Tsai has been invited by the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Smithsonian's National Museum of Asian Art in Washington D.C., and the Harvard Film Archive in Cambridge, among others.
"Fingerprints Left Behind – Seicho Matsumoto and Taiwan Mystery Novels," a special exhibition commemorating the 30th anniversary of the death of famed Japanese author Seicho Matsumoto, is open to the public at three venues in Taiwan and Japan simultaneously from July 29.
Cloud Gate Dance Theatre launched its first post-pandemic overseas tour on Oct. 6, featuring the current Artistic Director Cheng Tsung-lung's "13 Tongues," a well-reputed production since its 2016 premiere in Taiwan. The company presents 10 performances in Houston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington D.C. and Chicago.

MOC pays tribute to late fashion designer Pun Dai-lee
At the Taipei Fashion Week SS23 on Oct. 14, Vice Minister of Culture Lee Lien-chuan presented a posthumous certificate of appreciation to Taiwan's first-generation fashion designer Pun Dai-lee, who passed away on April 30, on behalf of the Ministry of Culture, in recognition of her significant contribution to Taiwan's fashion industry.
Highlights of Taipei Fashion Week SS23 announced
Taipei Fashion Week opened its Spring/Summer 2023 season on Oct. 14 with a grand opening show titled "CrossLab: Dialogue between Indigenous Art and Fashion." Besides runway shows, the highlight of this season is the Designer's Joint Fashion Exhibition, presenting nearly 150 pieces of work.
Hsinchu East Gate Plaza Revitalization project wins awards
The Hsinchu East Gate Plaza Revitalization project has been recognized by the 2022 AIA International Design Awards. Designed by Taiwanese architect Chiu Wen-chieh, the East Gate Plaza is one of Hsinchu's most recognizable landmarks.

Vincent Huang was born in the county of Yunlin in southern Taiwan. In his career in Taiwanese puppet theater, Vincent Huang took on more than 3,000 roles, sometimes jumping from a low-end male voice to a high-pitched female voice within seconds. The range and variation of the voices he performed earned Huang earned him a reputation among fans as "the man of many octaves."

What started out as a messenger path used by aborigines became northern Taiwan's most-frequented mountain route during the imperial Qing Dynasty. It was officially sanctioned by the government, and offered patrols and relay stations that kept bandits away and traders safe. People who travel the costal highway on Taiwan's northeastern coast will be struck by the sublime beauty of the rugged coast and the lofty cliffs along the highway.
