The 2024 Asian Art Biennial is set to open in November this year. The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (NTMoFA) revealed the Biennial theme, as well as the first batch of participating artists and their works, in a press conference on Aug. 1. 
The Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin is running the exhibition “Here-Elsewhere: Eight Enchantments to Transmute Time and Space” until Mar. 2, featuring works by eight Taiwanese artists. 
Applications are now open for a 12-week residency in London, which was launched by the Cultural Division of the Taipei Representative in the U.K. in partnership with the Delfina Foundation. The deadline for applications is Mar. 9.

The Taiwan-France Cultural Award, launched by the Ministry of Culture (MOC) and the French Academy of Moral and Political Sciences, is now accepting applications until May 31.

The National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra (NTSO) has announced that its International Youth Orchestra Camp will take place at its headquarters in Taichung City from Aug. 15 to 21 this year.

The National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute (NTCRI) kicked off the “Wood Carving from the Heart: Chi-Tsun Chen’s Wood Carving Art Exhibition,” celebrating the achievements of Chi-Tsun Chen.

Born in 1944 in Shandong, China, Lin moved to Taiwan with his family in 1949. He worked as a boat captain for a long time, leading sailors across the seas. A chance encounter with the guqin sparked his deep fascination with the instrument, inspiring him to pursue a career as a guqin maker.

About 56 kilometers away from Keelung Port in northern Taiwan, there is a small volcanic island named Pengjia Islet, which is home to the eponymous Pengjia Islet Lighthouse. Construction on the 26.2-meter tall Pengjia Islet Lighthouse began in 1906 and finished at the end of July 1909.
