Asia Society will present the retrospective “Water and Oil: The Movies of Ang Lee” from Feb. 14 to 23 in New York. This complete retrospective of Lee’s feature films honors the diversity of his oeuvre.
The Bangkok Art Biennale 2024 opened on Oct. 24, with support from the Cultural Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Thailand and the Thai art gallery Nova Contemporary. 
The Skövde Art Museum in Sweden launched a Taiwanese art exhibition titled “Nothing Happened here Today” on Oct. 17, showcasing different aspects of Taiwanese culture through the works of 9 Taiwanese artists.

In observance of the International Mother Language Day on Feb. 21, the Ministry of Culture (MOC) held the 2025 National Language and Culture Festival at Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab in Taipei on Feb. 15 and 16.

The National Museum of Taiwan History (NMTH), in collaboration with Japan’s National Museum of Ethnology, hosted an international symposium on Feb. 14 and 15 to discuss the preservation and revitalization of local culture in Taiwan and Japan.

The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts launched the exhibition “Utopian Ethical Machine” on Jan. 11. It aims to explore and challenge the ability of artificial intelligence (AI) in understanding and responding to human society.
Cultural Features
In 2013, Chang published her debut prose work, “Away from Home and Back: My United Family,” which explores topics of family, ethnicity, and gender. The book tells the bittersweet story of her multiracial family in contemporary Taiwan, reflecting on global migration and the integration of different ethnic groups.

In 1906, the first modern sugar factory in Taiwan was established there by the Japanese Meiji Sugar Company, later becoming Jiali Sugar Factory. The predecessor of Soulangh Cultural Park was a group of 14 warehouses belonging to the Jiali Sugar Factory, covering an area of approximately 13.8 hectares.
