The 2024 SummerWorks Performance Festival in Toronto, Canada, is launching its unprecedented "Taiwan Focus" program series. It features three boundary-pushing contemporary works from Taiwan’s most celebrated movement-based companies.
The Taiwan Academy of the Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles and the American Cinematheque will co-hold the "Tsai Ming-Liang: An American Cinematheque Retrospective" from July 31 to Aug. 17.
The Taipei Cultural Center in Tokyo collaborates with the Mori Art Museum to host the exhibition titled "The Dawn of Taiwanese Video Art in the 1980s-1990s" from Apr. 24 to Sept. 1.

Nearly 4,000 spectators from different corners of the world braved the torrential rain on Saturday to celebrate the opening of the Taiwan Pavilion, which aims to showcase the country's soft power, at the Paris Cultural Olympiad.
update2 regional forum
The Ministry of Culture hosted the first regional forum on the development of Taiwanese Hokkien at the Huashan 1914 Creative Park in Taipei on July 27. This forum marks the beginning of the 2024 National Languages Development Convention.

The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts inaugurated the 2024 Taiwan International Print Biennial and held its award ceremony on July 27. This year, the Biennial received 1,512 submissions from 82 countries. 
Cultural Features
Bei Lynn holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art from Chinese Culture University and a Master’s degree in Children’s Literature from National Taitung University. In 1999, she debuted "Let’s Pretend to be Fish," which illustrates a dream-like game for readers. With this book, she received the 11th Hsin-Yi Children Literature Award.

Since founder Yu Kuo-hsin is a supporter of cultural assets and environmental preservation, unlike other bookstores, Hoanya mainly sells books on culture, history, and environmental issues. Yu's intentions are to raise public awareness of those issues in Taiwan and advocate social participation.
