From Oct. 21 to 29, the Global Taiwan Institute (GTI) will feature a diverse selection of eight Taiwanese films and documentaries, as well as Q&A sessions with the directors of two selected films as part of the 2022 Taiwanese Film Week, GTI's third annual virtual film festival. All will be streamed for free on Vimeo.
Ten Taiwanese films have been selected to be screened at the 2022 London East Asia Film Festival from Oct. 22 through 29 at five venues around London. This year's program includes the cinematic offerings of China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia and consists of seven strands.
Taiwanese scholar Hsin-Chin Evelyn Hsieh, author Chen Yu-chin, and documentary director Wu Yu-ying are on a lecture and screening tour to introduce Taiwan literature and film to faculty and students in the U.S., with the goal to connect the United States and Taiwan on issues pertaining to transnational migration, race, and more.

57th Golden Bell Awards winners announced
The 57th Golden Bell Awards was separated into two ceremonies this year, with the award presentation ceremonies for radio broadcasting and television programs held on Oct. 21 and 22, respectively, at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall. Of the 1,976 entries received this year, 244 were shortlisted for the 48 awards.
Eminent movie poster artist Chen Tzu-fu passes away at 97
Taiwan's national treasure movie poster artist Chen Tzu-fu passed away on Oct. 25 at the age of 97. With a career spanning over five decades, he produced many classic hand-painted movie posters, and his works represented the golden era of Taiwan film history.

"Tranquil Lotus Field," a lotus light art installation in Hsinchu, has been recognized by the New York Design Awards and Sydney Design Awards, winning the silver award in the category of Pop-Ups, Display, Exhibit & Set Design in both competitions.

Artist Dondon Houmwm hails from the Hualien County indigenous Truku community of Dowmung (Tongmen in Mandarin). To pass on traditional indigenous culture, Dondon Houmwm established Elug Art Corner in 2015. "Elug" means "road" in the indigenous Truku language. The name was chosen for its symbolism, representing how the people should follow the path set by their ancestors toward the future without fear.

Taipei Story House, formerly known as Yuanshan Mansion and located next to the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, was built in 1913 by Taipei tea merchant Chen Chao-chun as a country resort and a place to entertain buyers and guests from abroad. Currently, the Taipei Story House hosts a wide range of exhibitions and cultural events, providing visitors with easy access to history and injecting new life into the important heritage site.
