"The Boy from Clearwater," the compelling graphic novel series from Taiwan, depicts the true story of Mr. Tsai Kun-lin (1930-2023), who endured a decade of imprisonment during Taiwan's tumultuous authoritarian era, known as the White Terror. 
The Museo Civico Archeologico di Bologna is hosting an exhibition titled "When Two Seas Meet in Bologna" from Apr. 9 to May 26, presenting the works of 60 artists, cartoonists, and illustrators from Taiwan and Italy. 
The Taipei Music Center is staging an exhibition titled "Music, Island, Stories: Taiwan Calling!" at the University of Washington Library in Seattle, U.S. from Apr. 24 to May 28. This exhibition highlights 50 exhibits among the TMC's collected items.

The 23rd National Award for Arts held its award ceremony on Apr. 26, with the presence of outgoing President Tsai Ing-wen. This year, the honor was presented to four outstanding creators.  
update2_cultural olympiad
The Ministry of Culture announces that 22 performing arts groups from Taiwan will participate in the Paris 2024 Cultural Olympiad. From Jul. 27 to Aug. 10, the Taiwan Pavilion will be established at Parc de la Villette.

Creative Australia, an arts investment and advisory body organized by the Australian Government, hosted the Asia Pacific Arts Award on Apr. 23. A total of 51 entries were received for the awards.
Cultural Features
Yu Jing-pin studied at a vocational school when she was young. As a photophile, she spent a lot of time in the darkroom to process films. Her professional career started as a camera assistant, and she worked with renowned music video director Huang Jung-ping, shooting videos and photos of pop singers.

Legend has it that a monk called Shu-pi introduced the statue of Mazu, the Goddess of Sea, to Taiwan from Chaotian Temple in Fujian Province, China. He established a temple for the deity in the Bengang area, now known as the Beigang Township of Yunlin County.
