TAIWAN'S LINEUP FOR THE 2014 BERLINALE

Four Taiwanese films will be screened at the upcoming Berlin International Film Festival (“Berlinale”). A total of 13 Taiwanese film companies will also participate in the accompanying European Film Market.


HAWAII TO SHOWCASE TAIWANESE PUPPETRY

The Taiwan Academy in Los Angeles has partnered up with the Honolulu-based East-West Center to organize a series of events featuring Taiwanese hand puppetry from Jan. 25 to May 11 at the Hawaiian capital.


'PERFORMING TAIWAN' IN TORONTO

“Performing Taiwan,” a program co-organized by the Taipei Cultural Center in New York and the University of Toronto, will bring 16 arts and cultural events to Canada from Jan. 22 to 25. Admission is free for all.


TEN CHINA FILMS APPROVED FOR TAIWAN MARKET

The Bureau of Audiovisual and Music Industry Development has unveiled the list of 10 mainland Chinese films that will be allowed to enter the Taiwanese market this year. The films were chosen through a random draw.


E.U. JOINS THE TAIPEI BOOK FAIR

In recognition of Taiwan’s growing role as a literary and creative hub, the European Union will join the Taipei book fair for the first time. The annual exhibition will take place from Feb. 5 to 10 at the Taipei World Trade Center.


‘WHITE TERROR’ MEMORIES RELEASED

As part of the Ministry’s efforts to preserve the nation's oral history, “Flames & Roses — A Witness to Human Rights Violations and Sufferings,” a collection by Taiwan’s political victims, is now available to the public.


MUSEUM FULFILLS CHILDREN’S DREAMS

Last year, the National Museum of Taiwan History launched a humanitarian project that helped to send nearly 3,500 children from disadvantaged backgrounds on cultural and ecological tours around southern Taiwan.


‘THE PIONEERS OF TAIWANESE ARTISTS’

“The Pioneers” is an ongoing exhibition series featuring Taiwanese artists born between 1931 and 1980. The third leg of the series, featuring those born in the 1951-1960 period, will be held at Taichung from Jan. 25 to March 9.


‘CHANG SHU-FENG’ DIGITAL MEDIA SHOW

The results of the 2014 Digital Art Creation Program will be shown in a special exhibition titled “Chang Shu-feng” from Jan. 11 through March 16 at the Taichung-based National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts.


‘INDIGENOUS CHILDREN’S ART EXHIBITION’

The winning entries of the Seventh National Indigenous Children’s Art Competition, which revolved around the theme of 'Indigenous Wonderland' this year, will be on display in Taitung between Jan. 24 and Feb. 15.
