TAIWAN FILM FESTIVAL KICKS OFF IN EDINBURGH

Seven renowned Taiwanese films, including the award-winning “Touch of the Light,” will be screened at a Taiwan-themed film festival held at the Filmhouse Cinema Edinburgh in the United Kingdom this month.


FREE TAIWANESE FILM SCREENINGS IN VANCOUVER

To help promote Taiwan’s unique culture to moviegoers in Canada, the Ministry of Culture has partnered with the Simon Fraser University (SFU) to hold a Taiwan Film Night in Vancouver on Nov. 29.


TAIWAN CRAFTS EXHIBITION TO BE HELD IN TEXAS

Two artisans from Taiwan have been invited to display their works in San Antonio and their gifts will be exhibited in public spaces to highlight the long-standing friendship between the U.S. and Taiwan.


ACTOR WILSON CHEN TO PROMOTE READING

Wilson Bo-lin Chen, an award-winning actor and a cultural ambassador for the Ministry of Culture’s “A New Wave of Reading” program, will be touring northern and central Taiwan this December to share his reading experiences.


WINNERS OF THE 2013 GOLDEN HORSE AWARDS

The star-studded Golden Horse Awards is considered the Chinese-language Oscars. This year's biggest winners include Taiwanese filmmaker Tsai Ming-liang and Singaporean production 'Ilo Ilo.'


‘A DIALOGUE BETWEEN LITERATURE AND SCIENCE’

To commemorate legendary Taiwanese academic Hsu Ping-ting, the Bureau of Cultural Heritage will hold a special exhibition in Hsu’s hometown of Tainan starting from Nov. 26, 2013.


'LIANG XIANG' POTTERY EXHIBITION

Taiwanese ceramic artist Lo Sen-hao will hold a solo exhibition titled “Liang Xiang,” meaning “bright appearance” in Chinese, at the National Museum of History from Nov. 29 through Jan. 12, 2014.


‘158 SNUFF BOTTLES’ FEATURING SUO ZHEN-HAI

To celebrate the beauty of Chinese craftsmanship, the National Museum of History will be presenting 158 snuff bottles decorated by the late renowned artist Suo Zhen-hai from Nov. 22 through Jan. 19, 2014.


‘BEAUTY OF TURKEY’ IN EASTERN TAIWAN

To promote cultural exchanges between Taiwan and Turkey, “Beauty of Turkey: The Exhibition” will be shown at the National Taitung Living Art Center in eastern Taiwan from Nov. 23 through Dec. 4.


‘MONET: LANDSCAPES OF MIND’

From Nov. 14 through Feb. 16, 2014, the National Museum of History will host a special exhibition on Claude Oscar Monet, the late French painter whose “Water Lilies” series are still widely known around the world today.
