MINISTER DEPARTS FOR SWITZERLAND, GERMANY

Culture Minister Lung Ying-tai has embarked on a 10-day trip to Switzerland and Germany, during which she will be signing several important cultural accords with the two European nations.


TAIWAN PAVILION OPENS AT THE VENICE BIENNALE

Designed by Taiwan-born architect Jimenez Lai, the Taiwan Pavilion titled “Township of Domestic Parts: Made in Taiwan” opened to the public on June 4 at the 2014 Venice Biennale.


LINEUP FOR THE NEW YORK ASIAN FILM FESTIVAL

The New York Asian Film Festival hosted by the Film Society of Lincoln Center has selected four Taiwanese productions for its 2014 screenings. Actor Jimmy Wang Yu will also be honored with the lifetime achievement award.


ALL HAIL LATE FILM MAESTRO KING HU

17 years after King Hu's death, the film maestro’s legacy remains a prominent force in modern cinema. To honor the late master, the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York will hold a retrospective film festival in mid-June.


TAIWAN-INSPIRED ART TO DEBUT IN LONDON

A special geometric series created by renowned British sculptor Phillip King during his stay in Taiwan will be displayed in a two-part exhibition in London between June 11 and July 26.


TAIWANESE BUSINESSES TO JOIN TOKYO FAIR

This year, a total of 26 Taiwanese creative businesses will take part in the 2014 Interior Lifestyle Tokyo fair; eight of the 26 businesses will take part in another trade show titled 'Fresh Taiwan‧Meet Japan!' at Shibuya.

In a bid to help entrepreneurs and up-and-coming businesses in the cultural and creative sector, the local banking industry is offering stronger financial support through more accessible loans.

Under the theme of 'Wonder of Fantasy,' the 2014 International Techno Art Exhibition utilizes different projection techniques, image formats, and visual design to highlight the role of space in the presentation of art.


'2014 WEI-WU-YING CHILDREN'S FESTIVAL'

Featuring three distinct programs and 20 performing groups from around the world, the 2014 Wei-Wu-Ying Children’s Festival will kick off on June 28 at the southern Taiwanese metropolitan of Kaohsiung.


'KAMU AND BEREZOVSKY'

The National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra (NTSO) has invited Finnish conductor Okko Kamu and Russian pianist Boris Berezovsky to delight Taiwanese audiences with two nights of classical music on June 6 and 8.
