OUR NEW MINISTER, HUNG MENG-CHI

Hung Meng-chi officially took the helm at the Ministry of Culture on Jan. 26. The Ministry of Culture looks forward to breaking new ground under the leadership of such a person rich in experiences in the field of cultural affairs.


TAIWAN'S LINEUP FOR THE BERLINALE

The 2015 Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) will feature two Taiwanese feature films while 19 Taiwanese filmmakers will join the European Film Market, a film trade held simultaneously with the film festival.


TAIWANESE ROBOTIC DANCE IN NEW YORK

A new production by Taiwanese artists dancing with a robot will be taking the stage of the famous 3LD Art & Technology Center in New York in mid-February, setting a new milestone for the Ministry of Culture’s Rainbow Initiative.


TAIWAN-KOREA YOUTH CAMP

The National Human Rights Museum partnered with the Korean Academy to organize the 1st Human Rights Camp for Taiwanese and Korean Youths, in which students visited ex-prison sites and met with persecuted political victims.


ELEVATING TAIWAN'S PERFORMING ARTS

Five Taiwanese performance groups have received subsidies that total NT$99 million (US$3.12 million) under the 2015 Taiwan Brand project as part of efforts to support their productivity, market development, and operations.


REVIVAL PROJECT FOR MUNICIPAL VENUES

The Municipal Cultural Centers and Theaters Revival Project has saw higher rates of venue usage, increase in ticketed performances, audience retention, and better planning of programs and marketing strategies.


ACCELERATE@CERN: OPEN CALL

To promote cross-field cooperation in science and the arts, the Republic of China (Taiwan) Ministry of Culture and the European Council for Nuclear Research (CERN) have come together to create Accelerate@CERN TAIWAN.


'INCOMPREHENSIBLE FEELING OF DISTANCE'

Latvian artist-scholar Jānis Murovskis will hold his debut exhibition in Asia — “The Incomprehensible Feeling of Distance” — at Taipei’s National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall from Jan. 23 through Feb. 1.


'WINDOW VIEW OF LIFE'

The first Taiwan Art Bank exhibition in 2015 will showcase 21 artworks by young Taiwanese artists, ranging from acrylic paintings to ink wash paintings, photographs, installation art, mixed media, oil paintings, and sculptures.


'CLASSIC CRAFTSMANSHIP OF FORMOSA'

Award-winning crafts and sculptures by outstanding Taiwanese artisans will be featured at the latest exhibition of the Presidential Art Gallery. This year, the displays are more decorative than practical.
