TAIWANESE DANCERS TO PERFORM AT TOKYO DOME

As part of the Ministry’s Spotlight Taiwan initiative, the Fairy Step Dance Company has been invited to perform traditional Taiwanese folk dances at the opening of the 2014 Japan International Orchid Festival on Feb. 15.


TAIWANESE OPERA DIVA TO VISIT CALIFORNIA

From Feb. 13 through 16, renowned Taiwanese opera actress Liao Chiung-chih will give four lectures and perform in a series of events held in California as part of the Ministry’s efforts to promote Taiwanese culture overseas.


TAIWANESE ARTIST LAUDED BY SPANISH FESTIVAL

For an innovative video themed on issues of a transforming society, the Best Art Video Award of the Contemporary Festival of New Media Arts in Spain was awarded to Taiwanese visual artist and filmmaker Wei-ming Ho.


TAIWAN’S ‘SCHIZOPHRENIA’ EXHIBITED IN GERMANY

A new media exhibition titled “Schizophrenia Taiwan 2.0” recently concluded at Transmediale in Germany. It was the first exhibit of its kind from Taiwan to be displayed at the annual art event.


2014 THREE-TIER FUNDING PROJECT RECIPIENTS

The Ministry will offer funding for a total of 85 Taiwan-based performing art groups this year, including 17 musical ensembles, 26 dancing groups, 18 traditional opera companies, and 24 modern theater troupes.


‘TURKISH DERVISHES: TAIWAN TOUR’

A Turkish Sufi whirling dance group is set to introduce the ritual dance of Sufism to Taiwan audiences. The first of three free performances will take place at the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall on Feb. 25.


‘THE TAIWAN PROVINCIAL ASSEMBLY’

To showcase the political, economic, and social developments of Taiwan after World War II, the National Taiwan Museum has launched a special exhibition featuring historical documents of the Taiwan Provincial Assembly.


'THE MAGIC OF PLANTS'

To present the vitality of the seemingly immobile plant kingdom, the National Taiwan Museum has organized “The Magic of Plants” exhibition, which will be open to the public in Taipei from Jan. 28 through Aug. 31.


‘THE CHANGING WORLD’

As a tribute to oil painter Kuo Tong-jong and his contributions to the modernization of fine arts in Taiwan, the Taichung-based National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts will hold a 3-month exhibition on Kuo’s abstract art.


'CHEN JIA-ZR SOLO EXHIBITION'

Chen Jia-zr, one of Taiwan’s top female calligraphers, will hold a solo exhibition displaying ink paintings and works of Chinese calligraphy at the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall from Feb. 8 through 22.
