20 YEARS OF COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT

The Ministry of Culture held a community-oriented festival in Taipei from Oct. 17 to 21, where representatives from around the nation told their most touching stories on community empowerment from the past two decades.


TAIWAN NIGHT AT CMJ NEW YORK

Taiwanese pop stars — A-Lin, Dwagie, and Luantan Ascent — will be flying to New York to perform in the 2014 CMJ Music Marathon, which will include a concert night at the well-known Highline Ballroom in Manhattan on Oct. 24.


TAIWANESE FILM SERIES AT USC

The University of Southern California (USC), one of the latest institutes that joined the Ministry of Culture’s Spotlight Taiwan program earlier this August, will host its first-ever Taiwanese documentary screenings on Oct. 28.


PARIS FORUM ON MILITARY DEPENDENTS' VILLAGES

To highlight the unique military dependents’ village culture in Taiwan and how it inspired generations of literary and artistic works, the Taiwan Cultural Center in Paris hosted a two-day seminar on Oct. 21-22.


TAIWANESE CREATIVE PRODUCTS IN THAILAND

Taiwan’s cultural and creative industries made their debut at the Bangkok International Gift Fair + Bangkok Int'l Houseware fair with a lineup that included home decor, stationery, tableware, and 3C product accessories.


'THE ECONOMY OF CHARACTER FORUM'

Professionals in such fields as character creation, branding, and character management in Japan’s character business industry will attend a Taipei forum and provide their insights on the trend and share their practical experiences.


'ASIA-PACIFIC TRADITIONAL ARTS FESTIVAL'

The National Center for the Traditional Arts has invited performance delegations from Japan, South Korea, China, and Thailand to join Taiwan’s aboriginal artists for the 13th Asia-Pacific Traditional Arts Festival.


'BUILDING HUMANE WORLDS'

A retrospective exhibition celebrating famed Taiwanese architect Han Pao-teh's eightieth birthday and his numerous achievements will be held at the National Museum of History in Taipei from Oct. 24 through Nov. 30.


'THE CRAFTSMANSHIP OF ABORIGINAL WOMEN'

The Bureau of Cultural Heritage has organized a special exhibition focusing on Taiwanese aboriginal females, the traditional preservers of their way of life, that will run in central Taiwan through Nov. 10.


'TAINAN IN PROGRESS'

“Tainan in Progress,” a special exhibition named after an old song extremely popular five decades ago, will be shown at the National Museum of Taiwan History to present the serene and exquisite side of Tainan.
