COMMEMORATING DR. CHEN CHI-LU

The Executive Yuan has approved a posthumous commendation for Dr. Chen Chi-lu in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the formulation of cultural laws and the nation’s overall cultural development.


2014 HERITAGE PRESERVATION AWARDS

Eight cultural asset preservers received the 3rd National Cultural Heritage Preservation Award on Oct. 8. Two masters of traditional art – Tai Chih-hsia and Wang Ching-shuang – were particularly honored for their achievements.


TAIWANESE ART DEBUTS AT UK TRIENNIAL

The Asia Triennial Manchester’s “Harmonious Society” exhibition, the largest Chinese contemporary art fair in the UK, will showcase the works of five contemporary Taiwanese artists and art group Luxury Logico through Nov. 23.


'SCHIZOPHRENIA' TO TOUR FRANCE

“Schizophrenia Taiwan 2.0,” a visual exhibition featuring Taiwan’s new media artists, is scheduled to tour the Mettalos Culture Center in Paris and the Instant Video Festival in Marseille starting Oct. 7.


ACTRESS CONTRIBUTES TO FILM RESTORATION

To thank veteran actress and producer Hsu Feng for using her celebrity influence to bring public attention to the importance of restoring old films, Culture Minister Lung Ying-tai presented her with a special award on Sept. 29.


2014 GOLDEN HORSE AWARDS NOMINEES

The nominees for the upcoming Golden Horse Awards were unveiled on Oct. 1. A total of 364 films were submitted for competition this year — the most in the award's 51-year history — and 14 Taiwan-made films received nominations.


'ASIA-PACIFIC TRADITIONAL ARTS FESTIVAL'

The National Center for the Traditional Arts has invited performance delegations from Japan, South Korea, China, and Thailand to join Taiwan’s aboriginal artists for the 13th Asia-Pacific Traditional Arts Festival.


'2014 WEI-WU-YING ARTS FESTIVAL'

A total of ten groups, including bands from the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, and South Korea, will help promote the performing arts in southern Taiwan at the 2014 Wei-Wu-Ying Arts Festival that will run from Oct. 7 to Nov. 22.


'2014 NAN YING FOLKLORE FESTIVAL'

Featuring 24 groups from 20 nations, the 2014 Nan Ying International Folklore Festival, one of the largest gala on culture and arts in southern Taiwan, will take place in Tainan City from Oct. 4 to 12.


'2014 INT'L EXHIBITION ON NATURAL DYES'

An international exhibition featuring crafts and home décor products accentuated with natural dyes will take place at the Craft Design Center in Nantou County from Oct. 8 through Dec. 7.
