ENRICHING THE SOIL OF CULTURE

Culture Minister Lung Ying-tai marked the Ministry of Culture's upcoming second anniversary by discussing efforts in laying the groundwork vital for the further development of cultural pursuits.


A TASTE OF TAIWAN'S DESIGN AESTHETICS IN LONDON

Under the collective title “Taste Taiwan,” Taiwanese designers presented their works in accordance to four sensory stimulations — touch, sound, sight, and taste — at the 2014 Pulse London fair.


'VISION TAIWAN' TO SCREEN INDIE CINEMA IN LONDON

The 2014 Chinese Visual Festival (CVF), which will be held at the King’s College London, has added a new segment to its program — Vision Taiwan — to feature contemporary and independent filmmakers from Taiwan.


HUMAN RIGHTS FESTIVAL ON GREEN ISLAND

The 2014 Green Island Human Rights Arts Festival will honor over a hundred former political prisoners and their family members at a memorial park on the outlying Green Island on May 16 and 17.


TAIWAN DOCUMENTARY FESTIVAL: CALL FOR ENTRIES

The annual Taiwan International Documentary Festival (TIDF), one of the top professional platforms in Asia for documentaries, will accept entries from today until May 30, 2014.


'TRAVEL JOURNAL'

'Travel Journal' is an upcoming concert that will feature the works by three foreign composers who traveled to Taiwan and recorded what they saw and felt about the island after experiencing Taiwan’s culture in person.


'DAYS OF HANSEN'

An exhibition on the life of the leprosy survivors at Taiwan’s Losheng Sanatorium is scheduled to run from May 9 through November 9 at the medical facility located in New Taipei’s Xinzhuang District.


'LEGENDS WITHIN THE HAREM'

Collaborating with Japanese conductor Fusao Kajima and Armenian cellist Narek Hakhnazaryan, the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra will hold two concerts inspired by the classic Persian tale “Arabian Nights” on May 17 and 18.


'CLASSIC CRAFTS COLLECTION'

In celebration of International Museum Day, the NTCRDI in central Nantou County will display priceless artifacts made by six master-level artisans who were recognized by the Crafts Achievement Award.


'THE TREASURE BOX OF ARTIFACT RESTORATION'

The Bureau of Cultural Heritage will be hosting three “Toy Doctors: The Treasure Box of Artifact Restoration” events in Taipei, Taichung, and Tainan during the second half of May to mark International Museum Day on May 18.
