NOMINEES FOR THE 2014 GOLDEN MELODY AWARDS

The Bureau of Audiovisual and Music Industry Development has announced the nominees for this year's Golden Melody Awards, the largest music awards in the Chinese-speaking world.


TAIWAN, ITALY JOINTLY COMPLETE 3 FILMS

Three films co-produced by Taiwan and Italy aim to hold their international premieres during the upcoming Venice International Film Festival, which is slated for Aug. 27 through Sept. 6.


'HELLO TAIWAN' CONCERT TO TOUR EAST COAST

The “Hello Taiwan!” 2014 concert tour will hold a series of performances in Washington, D.C., New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts, before returning to New York for its final concert titled “Passport to Taiwan.”


THE 6TH CROSS-STRAIT FILM FESTIVAL

The 6th Cross-Strait Film Festival, scheduled to open on May 31 in Taipei, will be attended by several prominent Chinese directors, actors, and actresses. Most of their films have not yet been shown in Taiwan.


TAIWAN DOCUMENTARY FESTIVAL: CALL FOR ENTRIES

The annual Taiwan International Documentary Festival (TIDF), one of the top professional platforms in Asia for documentaries, will accept entries from today until May 30, 2014.


'WONDER OF FANTASY'

Digital artists from nations including Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Belgium, Germany, France, Switzerland, and the United States will gather in Taiwan for the 2014 International Techno Art Exhibition.


'UNDYING GRATITUDE' FEATURING TAO ARTIFACTS

After an overseas stay exceeding four decades, a collection of artifacts from the indigenous Taiwanese tribe of Tao have been returned from Switzerland and is slated to be exhibited in Taitung from May 17 through Dec. 31.


'METAL CREATIONS'

Centered on the concept of “alchemy,” an exhibition chronicling the development of contemporary metal creation in Taiwan over the last two decades will run in Nantou County until Oct. 12.


'DR. SUN YAT-SEN AND THE UNITED STATES'

Featuring precious historic artifacts and photos, the “Dr. Sun Yat-sen and the United States” exhibition will run at the Fo Guang Yuan Pingtung Art Gallery from May 24 through July 20.


'THE SOUNDS OF SILK ROAD'

A two-hour concert titled “The Sounds of Silk Road,” featuring the Hamnavâ Middle Eastern Drum Ensemble, will take place at the National Taiwan Museum plaza on the afternoon of May 25.
