Minister Lee Yung-te takes the helm
Upon being officially appointed as Minister of Culture, Lee Yung-te took over the position from his predecessor Cheng Li-chiun on May 20. At the handover ceremony overseen by Minister-without-portfolio Lin Wan-i, the new Minister pledged to lead with his utmost devotion and sincerity.
2020 Taipei book fair takes to the web
The 2020 Taipei International Book Exhibition (TiBE) has been moved online! Themed "New Horizons of Reading Online," the exhibition will be presented in four major sections that encompass six themed exhibitions and more than 500 videos and 1,000 books.
Human rights museum goes digital
The National Human Rights Museum has launched a series of digital programs on Taiwan's human rights history, including an open archive, a VR720° panorama tour of the Green Island White Terror Memorial Park, and a virtual book club, to mark International Museum Day on May 18.
Taiwan grieves loss of revered Hakka writer
Taiwan grieves the passing of Hakka writer Chung Chao-cheng, whose decades-spanning writings can be seen as a ceaseless record of the nation's literary and socioeconomic history. He was also the driving force behind the Hakka Language Restoration Movement.

Ten Drum is a music troupe based in southern Taiwan that aims to promote local culture and invigorate Taiwanese percussion art, producing many pieces that present Taiwanese history, folktales, and culture through diverse drum performances.

The late Chung Chao-cheng was the first National Cultural Award winner of Hakka ancestry. He was also the first roman-fleuve (river-novel) writer in Taiwan who has helped the formation of Taiwanese novels and modern literature.
