TAIWANESE LITERATI IN HONG KONG

The 2014 Taiwan Dialogue Series in Hong Kong will feature documentary director Chi Po-lin, poet Yu Kwang-chung, architect Hsieh Ying-chun, and writer Chang Man-chuan from Taiwan.


TAIWANESE THEATER COMPANY TO TOUR FRANCE

Taiwan’s Möbius Strip Theatre will stage “Distortion City,” a production that reflects on our high-tech society and human nature, in five cities in eastern France between April 4 and 17.


25-YEAR-OLD DANCE TROUPE TO PERFORM IN N.Y.

Modern dancers from the Nai-ni Chen Dance Company, which was founded by a former Cloud Gate dancer, will celebrate their troupe’s 25th anniversary with two sets of performances in New York on April 26 and 27.


NATIONAL PERFORMING ARTS CENTER INAUGURATED

The National Center for Performing Arts, the nation’s highest-level independent cultural institute and the key to the structural upgrade of the cultural environment in Taiwan, was officially inaugurated on April 7.


TAIWANESE ARTIST CAPTURES 'TALENTE' PRIZE

32-year-old Ou Jiun-you has captured one of the top awards at the international crafts competition TALENTE 2014 in Munich, becoming the first artist from Taiwan to ever receive the honor.


'DR. SUN YAT-SEN AND THE UNITED STATES'

The National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and the Taichung City Government will jointly present a traveling exhibition titled “Dr. Sun Yat-sen and the United States” in Taichung from April 6 through 16.


'DON JUAN — LOVE & DEATH' FEATURING THE NTSO

Guest conductor Michal Nesterowicz from Poland will lead the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra in a lusty interpretation of Don Juan’s legendary escapades at the Chunghsing Hall in Taichung City on April 18.


'BETTER NOT BE THERE?' FEATURING NTUA

A joint exhibition co-organized by the National Taiwan University of Arts’ Graduate Program of Fine Arts will showcase the works of young students in a two-week show at the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall.


'TAIWAN PUPPETRY CARNIVAL'

The Taiwan Puppetry Carnival, which is slated for April 12 at the National Museum of Taiwan History, will feature a local puppet theater that has gone to considerable lengths to preserve the classic Taiwanese art form.


'CHILDREN'S POETRY & BALLARD WORKSHOP'

A children’s poetry and ballad workshop featuring Bunun poet Salizan Takisvilainan Islituan will mark the start of the 10th anniversary celebrations of the National Museum of Taiwan Literature’s youth literature program on April 12.
