Tucked away in Sanxia Old Street, New Taipei City, Haksip Village was originally a hospital founded in 1947 by Dr. Chen Chung-ming, a physician who had served at National Taiwan University Hospital before returning to his hometown. After years of medical service, the hospital was later converted into an elderly care center.
To revitalize and reuse historic sites in the area, the New Taipei City Government established the Tamsui Historical Museum in 2005, which has since been hard at work promoting the investigation, gathering, research, collection, display, and promotion of historic monuments and cultural relics in the Tamsui area.
