'MICRO MICRO REVOLUTION' IN THE UK

Taiwanese artists selected by a program jointly organized by the Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art and the Taipei Representative Office in the U.K. will have their exhibitions shown at Manchester from July 2 through Sept. 6.


TAIWANESE WATERCOLOR PAINTINGS IN NYC

“Brimming with Nostalgia – The Humanistic Landscape of Taiwanese and Japanese Watercolor Paintings,” a joint exhibition featuring over 30 painters, will run from July 6 through 31 at the Tenri Cultural Institute in New York.


TAIWANESE ARTISTS JOIN VIRGINIA FILM FESTIVAL

Four Taiwanese artists - Lin Jye-hwei, Lin Wen-chung, Lee Ji-hong, and Huang Kuo-heng - will be joining the 2015 Experimental Film Virginia, an annual affair focusing on movement-inspired films made by dancers and filmmakers.


'2014 TAIWAN CRAFTS: SHORTLISTED ARTISTS'

The Executive Yuan will display a selection of art pieces spanning from porcelain to gold and lacquer crafts from June 12 to Dec. 12. The featured artwork were made by 11 artists shortlisted by the 2014 Taiwan Craft Competition.


'RENOVATION & REFORM'

“Renovation and Reform,” a special exhibition at the National Museum of Taiwan History, will lead visitors to revisit 19th-century Taiwanese society through its collection of historic images, maps, manuscripts, and illustrations.


'BETWEEN CONFIGURATION'

Mutable, large-scale installations by Ohio-based Taiwanese artist Ying Hui-chu will be shown in a special exhibition hosted by the Taichung-based National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts from June 6 through Aug. 30.


'GROWING SOUND PROJECT'

Taiwanese artist Wang Lien-cheng attempts to visualize the connection between acoustics and awareness of one’s surroundings through the “Growing Sound Project,” which will be hosted by the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts.


'TREASURE MAP: THE FOLK IMAGES IN TAIWAN'

“Treasure Map: The Folk Images in Taiwan,” an exhibition offering a modern interpretation of traditional folk symbols, will be available at the Nantou-based National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute through Oct. 18, 2015.


TAIWAN MOURNS THE LOSS OF CARPENTRY MASTER

Carpentry master Liao Chih-te, who was revered as a “National Living Treasure” in Taiwan, passed away in Tainan on July 9. He was 86. Liao was one of the last masters of traditional Taiwanese wood-frame construction.


MINISTER HOSTS AWARDS CEREMONY IN PARIS

Culture Minister Hung Meng-chi hosted the 19th Taiwan-France Cultural Award ceremony in Paris on July 6. The annual event was jointly presented by the Ministry of Culture and the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences.
