WRITERS, SINGERS GEAR UP FOR MALAYSIA FAIR

The Ministry of Culture aims to combine Taiwanese music and film to present the diversity of Taiwanese literature through the 2015 BookFest Malaysia, which runs from July 11 to 19 this year in Kuala Lumpur.


TAIWANESE SOUND ART TRAVELS TO NEW YORK

Four sound artists from Taiwan will join an international exhibition on Governors Island off Manhattan as part of the 2015 New York Electronic Arts Festival, which runs through July 20 this year.


TAIWAN'S PUBLIC ART PROWESS SHINES IN JAPAN

Public art projects dreamed up by Taiwanese artists Wang Wen-chih, Jimmy Liao, and Lin Shuen-long will make their debut at two triennial art festivals in Japan's Niigata Prefecture this summer.


TAIWAN FILM SERIES IN LA CELEBRATES COURAGE

Nine films depicting the fearless aspects of Taiwan’s culture will be showcased at the Taiwan Academy in Los Angeles from July 2 through Aug. 27; each screening will be also accompanied by a discussion session.


TAIWANESE FILM WELL RECEIVED BY EDINBURGH

Taiwanese director Doze Niu brought his latest film, “Paradise in Service,” to the 2015 Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) in Scotland on June 24, garnering positive responses from audiences and critics.


'RENOVATION & REFORM'

“Renovation and Reform,” a special exhibition at the National Museum of Taiwan History, will lead visitors to revisit 19th-century Taiwanese society through its collection of historic images, maps, manuscripts, and illustrations.


'BETWEEN CONFIGURATION'

Mutable, large-scale installations by Ohio-based Taiwanese artist Ying Hui-chu will be shown in a special exhibition hosted by the Taichung-based National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts from June 6 through Aug. 30.


'GROWING SOUND PROJECT'

Taiwanese artist Wang Lien-cheng attempts to visualize the connection between acoustics and awareness of one’s surroundings through the “Growing Sound Project,” which will be hosted by the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts.


LABEL FOUNDERS, ACTOR RECEIVE LIFETIME HONORS

The Lifetime Contribution Awards of the 26th Golden Melody Awards for Traditional Arts and Music will go to Lin Min-shan and Chang Bi for the records category, and Lu Fu-lu for the performance category.


WARTIME VALOR COMMEMORATED BY EXHIBITION

Events commemorating the 70th anniversary victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan and the late Taiwanese activist Chiang Wei-shui kicked off on July 3 at the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall.
