PRESIDENTIAL CITATION PROPOSED FOR HUGH LEE (UPDATE)

The Executive Yuan passed a proposal on Thursday to recognize the contributions of late Taiwanese theater director and actor Hugh Lee with a presidential citation.


TAIWANESE FILMS OPEN SPANISH SUMMER FILM FEST

Several Taiwan-made films, including “The Soul of Bread” and “GF*BF,” opened the Asian Summer Film Festival in the Spanish city of Vic on July 9.


THE TAIWANESE LINEUP FOR THE 2013 OFF D’AVIGNON

“The Beauty of Taiwan’s Lacquer Art” features the works of Japanese lacquer master Yamanaka Takao and his three Taiwanese disciples – Wang Ching-shuang, Chen Huo-qing and Lai Kao-sha.


‘SWAN LAKE’

The world-famous ballet play “Swan Lake” and the fate of its doomed Princess Odette will be re-enacted in the central Taiwanese city of Taichung on Aug. 13.
