16-volume collection on Taiwan writers now available

Dozens of prominent writers and scholars gathered together at the Taipei-based Kishu Sn Forest of Literature (纪州庵文學森林) on March 10 to celebrate a new 16-volume release of the "Compilation of Contemporary Writers in Taiwan (台灣現當代作家研究資料彙編)” collection.

Tasked by the National Museum of Taiwan Literature, the Taiwan Literature Development Foundation (財團法人台灣文學發展基金會) has spent over a decade creating a database on contemporary Taiwanese writers, compiling studies and research on Taiwanese literature systematically since 2004.

The "Compilation of Contemporary Writers in Taiwan” consists of volumes compiled by scholars based on a database of more than 100,000 entries. Each volume includes photographs, manuscripts, a detailed biography, and an extensive anthology to tell the literary journey of the featured writer.

The sixteen new volumes released this time were compiled by a total of seventeen scholars to introduce writers Zhan Bing (詹冰), Gao Yang (高陽), Zi Min (子敏), Chi Pang-yuan (齊邦媛), Zhao Zi-fan (趙滋蕃), Xiao Bai (蕭白), Peng Ge (彭歌), Du Pan Fang-ge (杜潘芳格), Jin Lian (錦連), Rong Zi (蓉子), Xiang Ming (向明), Zhang Mo (張默), Yu Li-hua (於梨華), Ye Di (葉笛), Yip Wai-lim (葉維廉), and Dong Fang-bai (東方白).

Director Chen Yi-yuan (陳益源) of the National Museum of Taiwan Literature thanked President Feng De-ping (封德屏) of the Wenhsun Magazine (文訊雜誌社), participating scholars, and all those who contributed to the project for making the sixteen new releases the most comprehensive and newest research tomes to date for understanding Taiwan's literary figures.
