Disabled artists honored in the 2013 Enable Prize awards

The awards ceremony for the 2013 Enable Prize, an art competition for disabled people, was held in Taipei on Oct. 21, with more than 100 winners and guests attending the event.

Organized by the National Changhua Living Arts Center and held at the NTUH International Convention Center, the annual competition aims to help people learn more about the inner world of disabled people.

A total of 39 winners were selected from 1,606 participants around Taiwan, with the quality of the works exceeding that of previous years. The results of the 2013 competition can now be viewed online at: www.enableprize2013.tw.

This year the theme of the contest was "My Dream,” and the contestants were divided into two divisions - student/college student and adult - for the picture book category and literature category. The contest awarded a total of up to NT$ 1 million (US$ 33,980) in prize money, in the hope of encouraging more disabled people to share their dreams and originality through words and paintings.
