To promote Taiwan's contemporary arts, the Ministry of Culture and the Chinese Arts Centre in Manchester will help Taiwanese artist Wu Chi-tsung (吳季璁) present his first solo exhibition in the United Kingdom.
Working together with three British galleries - Lancaster University's Peter Scott Gallery, the Storey Institute in Lancaster and the Site Gallery in Sheffield - the organizers will help Wu showcase his "Recalibrate” series at the three venues from Aug. 30, 2013 to June 6, 2014.
"Recalibrate,” meaning to re-adjust or re-alter color schemes in photographic reproduction, will start the first leg of its tour at the Manchester-based Chinese Arts Centre between Aug. 30 and Oct. 16.
The exhibition will showcase two key works by the artist, including a collection of cyanotypes from the series "Wrinkled Textures” and a brand-new commissioned installation, "Crystal City 004.” Both sets of work present two very different areas of the artist's interest, but both are inherently connected by his aspirations and fears for an ever-changing world.
Wu, who specializes in mixing traditional painting techniques with cyanotype prints, is the recipient of the top prize at Poland's WRO Media Art Biennale last May and the 2003 Taipei Arts Award.
His productions have previously been selected as part of the 2nd Techno Art Creation Project by Taiwan's National Culture and Arts Foundation, and was short-listed by the 2006 Artes Mundi, the renowned biennial contemporary visual art exhibition and prize of Wales.
His works have also been on display at renowned international museums such as Mori Art Museum in Japan, Seoul Museum of Art in South Korea and Experimenta Media Arts in Australia.
