As part of the government's efforts in helping the general public learn more about the inner world of people with handicaps, the Ministry of Culture has launched the 2013 Enable Prize, an annual art competition for disabled people in Taiwan.
The Enable Prize was established in 1998 andhas amassedover 4,700 pieces of work, of which more than 300 have won awards.The contest, which features total prize money of up to NT$1 million (US$33,486), is aimed at encouraging more participants to share their dreams and originality through words and painting.
Now in its 12th year, the contest has a theme of "My Dream” this year, with both a picture book category and a literature category, and is divided into two divisions - one for students and another intended for college students and adults.
In order to encourage more people to take part in the contest this year, the first 1,000 participants who successfully register to participate in the contest this year will also receive a NT$100 gift voucher issued by the Uni-President Enterprises Company as a reward.
Please note that applicants must be registered citizens of the Republic of China and will need to submit their written or painting workbefore Sept. 14, 2013.
