WINNERS OF THE 37TH GOLDEN TRIPOD AWARDS

The Commonwealth Publishing Group was the biggest winner of this year's Golden Tripod Awards, capturing honors in five of the 22 categories, the Ministry of Culture said on Monday.

The group won the top prizes for best financial magazine (Global Views Monthly), best children and youth magazine and best photography and shared the top spot in the non-literary book and best children and youth book categories, said the Ministry, which runs the awards.

Meanwhile, geographic magazine Rhythms Monthly won awards for best literary and arts magazine and best feature story.

The special contribution award went to Lee Chin-lien, former editor-in-chief of the China Times' 'Book Review' section.

Lee, who edited the newspaper's book review pages for 24 years, was honored for her dedication to her job, for bringing attention to original works in Taiwan, and for promoting reading in cities and rural areas despite lacking manpower and resources, the Ministry said.

The Golden Tripod Awards for Publications, now in their 37th year, are the most prestigious awards in Taiwan's publishing industry. Over 1,600 entries were submitted to the competition this year.

The awards ceremony will take place on April 23 on World Book and Copyright Day.
