Golden Tripod Awards nominations begin now

  • Date:2013-01-23

The Ministry of Culture announced on Jan. 23 that the 37th Golden Tripod Awards for Publications will accept applications between Jan. 25 and Feb. 25. The Ministry will hand out several additional awards to strengthen their influence on Taiwan's publishing industry and to encourage related sectors.

First of all, the Golden Tripod Awards for Digital Publications and the National Publication Award given by the Research, Development and Evaluation Commission will be merged with the Golden Tripod Awards for Publications.

The awards have also added several new categories, including Best New Magazine to encourage magazine publication, Outstanding Government Publications award to stimulate joint efforts by the government and publishers, and Best Editor-in-Chief award to recognize efforts by a publishing executive.

In the digital publication awards category, four awards - excellence in digital content, digital technology integration, digital innovation operation and digital transformation - will be handed out as the Golden Tripod Awards for Publications this year.

The review committee of the Golden Tripod Awards for Publications will also select one recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his or her contribution to the publishing industry.

Meanwhile, the organizers have decided to raise the prize money for award-winning individuals to NT$150,000 (US$5,085) to encourage publishing executives.

Applicants must enroll online and submit all relevant documents postmarked by registered mail, or drop them at the Ministry's Department of Humanities and Publications during office hours. The deadline is Feb. 25, 2013.
