Taiwan’s largest creative fair kicks off in Taipei

Creative Expo Taiwan 2019 kicked off on April 24 at five core exhibition areas —Huashan 1914 Creative Park, Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, the Taipei Expo Park Expo Dome, the Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab, and the Taipei Railway Workshop Museum.

Celebrating its ninth edition through May 5, the expo’s theme this year is "Culture on the Move," focusing on the dynamism and diversity of culture by connecting the five exhibition areas along Taipei's old railway lines to create a “cultural innovation corridor.”

Over 570 business representatives and creative professionals representing a total of 25 nations and territories will attend this year's expo, with attendance projected to reach a record-breaking 350,000 participants.

In addition, the expo is further grouped into five sub-themes: "Stage on the Move," "Places on the Move," "Fairs on the Move," "School on the Move," and "Infrastructure on the Move." Visitors will get to enjoy five expo sites, 21 pavilions, 300 events, and creative goods from 570 international and local design and graphic brands.

Event organizers have also mobilized over 200 veteran performance artists representing different facets of Taiwan's culture, including puppet master Chen Hsi-huang (陳錫煌), chant singer Yang Xiu-qing (楊秀卿, indigenous singer Suming (舒米恩), and indie rock band Sorry Youth (拍謝少年).

The Songshan exhibition area will also feature a "Hi, Story" pavilion curated by five different museums: the National Taiwan Museum, National Human Rights Museum, National Museum of History, National Center for Traditional Arts, and National Museum of Prehistory.
