Two-part plan for upgrading Huashan into content innovation hub

Huashan 1914 Creative Park is located in the easily accessible center of the Taiwanese capital city Taipei, making it an important cultural and tourist hotspot. The Ministry of Culture has been actively promoting the transformation and upgrading of the nation's creative parks in recent years, beginning with a two-part plan to revolutionize Huashan into a "Creative Content Innovation Hub (文化內容創新樞紐)."

The first phase is centered on the construction of an additional "Huashan 2.0" park to house more cultural industry representatives adjacent to the current park. Established within the existing parking space, the new structure is envisioned to be completed in 2024 and will be managed by the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA, 文策院).

The second phase is a metamorphosis of the current "Huashan 1.0" park to enhance the development and production of cultural content, facilitate cross-sectoral collaboration, implement creative resources, and strengthen the site's arts and cultural functions. The goal of this is to make Huashan a future hub of cultural content innovation and showcase the results on the international stage.

The future "Huashan 3.0" park will highlight three major functions of the cultural content industry:

I. Innovative Content Network:
Under the guidance of TAICCA, resources will be integrated across sectors and collaboration within the cultural content industry production chain promoted, with the aim of enhancing local and Taiwanese cultural content. This will entail building a proficient support network for innovative content and creating new business models for cultural content.

II. Public Art and Literature:
Art marketplaces, creative designs and products, and exhibition activities will continue to be organized to create new channels for the promotion of Taiwanese cultural brands. This will be complimented with the construction of bookstores and pop-up stores at Huashan, along with the holding of reading events, to strengthen public cultural experiences. This aspect encourages public participation in the arts and the generation of cultural content.

III. International Cultural Showcase:
An interdisciplinary cooperation platform will be established to expand content collaboration in various fields and showcase the results of such projects. The Ministry of Culture, together with TAICCA and the Taiwan Film and Audiovisual Institute (國家電影及視聽文化中心), are planning to employ the latest technology to showcase Taiwan's cultural history and cinematic legacy at Huashan.

The third edition of Huashan 1914 Creative Park will place more emphasis on connecting local art and cultural businesses and individuals to create a national network of content innovation hubs. The park will be developed into an experience-based showcase space for supporting original creations and displaying Taiwan's diverse aesthetics and distinctive values.
