National Center for Traditional Arts (NCFTA) hosted the ceremony for the 32rd Golden Melody Awards for Traditional Arts and Music on Oct. 9, at the same time revealing the winners of the 18 categories.
Minister of Culture Lee Yung-te expressed his support for the winners and paid tribute to all the artists and the jury panel for their hard work.
The album "An Unlimited Passage (《䪩》無設限的詩歌紀行)" was selected for the Best Audiovisual Album category. Fan Chiang-yi (范姜毅) was awarded in the "Best Instrumental Performance" category. "Best New Artist" and "Best Performer" were awarded to the protagonists of "Matinee in the Rain (雨中戲臺)" Guo Chun-Mei (郭春美) and Sun Kailin (孫凱琳). Tang Mei Yun Taiwanese Opera Company's (唐美雲歌仔戲團) "The Storyteller and Her Dream (光華之君)" was awarded in the "Best Director," "Best Theatre Script," and "Best Group Performance" categories.
The prelude of the Golden Melody Awards ceremony was delivered by Dai Jung-fang (戴君芳) and Peng Jun-gang (彭俊綱) of the GuoGuang Opera Company (國光劇團).
In the second program, renowned glove puppetry maestro Kuo Chun-mei (郭春美) and Sun Kailin (孫凱琳) convey the need for innovation in traditional opera through Atayal myths and "Hot Tube Gang (哈管幫)" music.
The third program was delivered by Golden Melody Award-winning pianist Rolf-Peter Wille (魏樂富), who teamed up with actor Lin Chien-Lang (林子恆) and dancer Fang Yu-ting (方妤婷) to convey the struggles of women during the White Terror Era.
The fourth program was performed by Henan opera singer Hsiao Yang-ling (蕭揚玲) and Ardor Huang (流氓阿德), bringing together a sad love song that blends the traditional and the new.
The finale performance was delivered by Golden Melody Award-winning actor Chu An-li (朱安麗), coupled with GuoGuang Opera Company’s Wen Yu-hang (溫宇航), Chen Ching-He (陳清河) and Taipei Li-yuan Peking Opera Theatre’s Yu Ji-rou (余季柔).
