3D art exhibition aims to present local Taiwanese culture through a 'trick' of the eye

Following the success of the previous 3D art exhibition, the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall will be launching "Amazing Taiwan-3D Trick Art Exhibition II (逗陣遊臺灣)" once again from Dec. 29 to Aug. 14, 2022, featuring Taiwanese traditional character "Electric-Techno Neon Gods (電音三太子)."

On the opening day of the art exhibition on Dec. 29, those present included Deputy Minister of Culture Lee Ching-hwi (李靜慧); National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall Deputy Commissioner Shu Wen-tao (徐文濤); curator Tsai Wen-hsiang (蔡文祥); folk artist Chen Ming-shan (陳明山); renowned 3D art team: IMAGINATION Art and Design Space (想像空間藝術設計工作室); director Kit Hung (洪榮傑); and other 3D artists. The opening ceremony also showcased a live performance of the Electric-Techno Neon Gods, performed by Dragon Dance and Arts Centre Limited (龍騰藝術團).

Deputy Minister of Culture Lee Ching-hwi stated that the first 3D art exhibition held last year received warm responses. This year, the exhibition content includes attractions across Taiwan such as Yilan's Guishan Island (Turtle Island), Taitung's Taiwan International Balloon Festival, Tainan's Salt Mountain, Nantou's Qingjing Farm, Taipei's National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, and Kinmen's Wind Lion Gods (Fengshiye). By integrating the Electric-Techno Neon Gods in the exhibition, it aims to present traditional Taiwanese culture to audiences.

Curator Tsai stated that the 6 pieces of artwork and a painted archway at the entrance were co-created by folk artist Chen Ming-shan and the IMAGINATION Art and Design Space. He expressed his gratitude to the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall for organizing this exhibition, allowing the participating artists to showcase Taiwan's local culture and art in the national art venue.

In addition, a video by photographer Ed Wu (吳建衡) as well as artistic lampposts incorporated with traditional paper-cutting and modern design will be shown at the exhibition venue.
