Taipei Fashion Week AW22 launches 'Taipei Sustainable Collection'

Taipei Fashion Week AW22 kicked off with an opening show themed "Taipei Sustainable Collection" on Mar. 24 at the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park. Encompassing runway shows, New Breed Show, Young Talent-Student Show, the fashion event will run through Mar. 30, highlighting the five leading objectives of Taipei Fashion Week: Sustainability, Functionality, Diversity, Transboundary, and Humanities.


Those present at the opening show include Minister of Culture Lee Yung-te, legislator Rosalia Wu (吳思瑤), Deputy Minister of Culture Lee Ching-hwi (李靜慧), Vice Minister of Culture Lee Lien-chuan (李連權), Deputy Director General, Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs Lee Guann-jyh (李冠志), among other officials, representatives and designers.


Additionally, a host of celebrities have also been invited to the opening show, including the cast members of TV shows "Gold Leaf (茶金)" and "Light the Night (華燈初上)": James Wen (溫昇豪), Lien Yu-han (連俞涵), Cammy Chiang (江宜蓉), Derek Chang (張軒睿), Hu Wei-jie (胡瑋杰), Tomohisa Kagami (加賀美智久), Hsieh Chiung-hsuan (謝瓊煖), among others.


Minister Lee said, Taipei Fashion Week, in its fifth year, will continue to uphold its core values: sustainability, functionality, transboundary, diversity, and humanities. In addition to being the first international fashion week in Asia with the theme of sustainability, it is also gradually establishing an important international identity. Minister Lee believes that with the collaboration between Taiwan's best designers and the textile industry, Taipei Fashion Week will not only be leading the platform of sustainable fashion, but will also be a leading brand advocating zero carbon emissions in the future.


He added that Taipei Fashion Week also cultivates potential new talents by having Young Talent-Student Show, Young Talent Show, and the first New Breed Show, in hopes of providing a platform that is always changing, evolving, and improving for new talents to blossom and meanwhile discover the best designer of the new generation. In supporting Taiwanese fashion brands to expand globally, 50 international buyers will be able to participate in the fashion event in-person or virtually.
