Taipei Film Festival to present world premiere of two Taiwanese films

The 2022 Taipei Film Festival's lineup has just been announced, including two Taiwanese films that will have their world premiere at the festival. The 24th edition will run from June 23 to July 9 at Taipei Zhongshan Hall, Vieshow Cinemas Taipei Xinyi, and SPOT Huashan Cinema.

The two world premieres are "Would You Like a Cup of Coffee? (歡迎光臨 二代咖啡)," starring Rhydian Vaughan (鳳小岳), Sonia Sui (隋棠), and JC Lin (林哲熹) as well as "The Leaking Bookstore (滴水的推理書屋)," starring Wes Lo (宏正), Moon Lee (李沐), and River Huang (黃河).

Directed by Chiou Hau-jou (邱晧洲), the special edition of "Would You Like a Cup of Coffee" will be screened at the festival for the first time. In the film, Rhydian Vaughan plays the role of "God of Coffee" who brews coffee with his apprentice every day. It uses the diverse flavors of coffee as a metaphor to explore the variations of human nature. "The Leaking Bookstore," a mystery drama directed by Liao Shih-han (廖士涵), is adapted from the Taiwanese novel "FIX." Wes Lo plays the role of a bookstore manager who enjoys studying unsolved crimes but is involved in a bizarre crime by chance. The first two episodes of the drama will be played at the festival.

In addition to Taiwanese films, the Taipei Film Festival will also screen "Three Tidy Tigers Tied a Tie Tighter," a Brazilian film that won the Teddy Award at the 2022 Berlin International Film Festival; “Freda,” a film that was entered as Haiti submission for Oscars; "Actual People" directed by Kit Zauhar and "The Children of the Sleeping Giant," among others.
