Golden Tripod Award 2023

The Ministry of Culture (MOC) announced the winners of the 47th Golden Tripod Awards for Publications (GTA) on Nov. 22. Out of 1,258 submissions this year, 35 works are awardees, while 84 works received special commendations. The special contribution award will be presented to director Lim Bun-kim (林文欽) of the Avanguard Publishing House (前衛出版社).

The judging panel said that Lim started his career as an editor in a publishing house in 1979 and pioneered the publication of works authored by writers from the younger generations. He founded Avanguard Publishing House in 1982 and solidified the company as one of the private publishers in Taiwan with both local concern and global vision, the judges added.

The main awards and special commendations are divided into six subcategories: literature, non-literature, children and young adults, government publication, editing, and illustrations.

In the book category, this year’s winners are highly distinctive in content, clear in their aspirations, aesthetically pleasing, and easy to read.

In the magazine category, the award-winning works documented local sentiments and were commended for demonstrating originality and a variety of perspectives to enhance reading enjoyment.

Meanwhile, for the digital publishing, it has been a year of abundant content. Various heavyweight features were produced whether by news outlets, new media, or governmental organizations to offer different viewpoints to readers and lead them to get a better understanding of issues in Taiwan and the world.

In the government publication category, this year’s GTA also received a number of outstanding works, which help readers to easily learn more about Taiwan’s nature and culture.

Culture Minister Shih Che said that the publishing industry in the country has become more mature and has been able to integrate with technological transformation to showcase the diversity and depth of Taiwanese culture. He added that MOC will continue to support Taiwan’s outstanding publications through incentive programs for promoting publishing and reading.

The GTA ceremony is set to take place at the end of December in the Taipei New Horizon building (臺北文創大樓). For more information, please visit GTA’s official websiteFacebook page, and YouTube Channel
