Culture Points expand to youths aged 16 to 22 starting Jan. 20, 2024

Culture Minister Shih Che announced that the next round of cash handouts, known as “Culture Points (文化幣),” will be available for young adults aged 16 to 22 starting Jan. 20, 2024.

The Culture Points program was initiated in June to encourage young adults to engage in cultural activities such as watching Taiwanese films and live performances, buying books and crafts, and visiting museums.

The MOC pointed out that the eligible age to redeem the Culture Points was expanded from 18 to 21 this year to 16 to 22 next year, increasing the number of recipients from around 1 million to 1.5 million. Citizens of Taiwan and foreign nationals holding alien resident certificates who were born between Jan. 1, 2002, and Dec. 31, 2008, can redeem 1200 points through the dedicated mobile app starting Jan. 20, 2024.

Minister Shih highlighted that the Culture Points reached a redemption rate of 80% just within half a year, showing the enthusiasm of young adults in Taiwan to participate in cultural activities.
