The ceremony of the 47th Golden Tripod Awards for Publications (GTA) was held at the Taipei New Horizon building (臺北文創大樓) on Dec. 27, presenting the honor to 35 award winners and 84 special commendations that stand out among 1,258 submissions. The special contribution award was presented to Director Lim Bun-kim (林文欽) of the Avanguard Publishing House (前衛出版社) by Vice Premier Cheng Wen-tsan (鄭文燦).
The Ministry of Culture (MOC) highlighted that Lim Bun-kim started to his publishing career four decades ago, an era where freedom of publication was very limited and media censorship was imposed by the government under martial law. At that time, Lim insisted on publishing non-mainstream books that focused on Taiwanese literature, history, and ecology, trailblazing the way for Taiwan-centered consciousness and laying a foundation for “Taiwanology,” the MOC added.
To promote the award-winning works, the MOC will organize several activities including sharing sessions in independent bookstores and uploading interviews of the winners as well as podcasts to online platforms.
