The 28th Asian Television Awards took place in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on Jan. 12. Taiwanese productions were nominated for 14 awards this year, with Taiwan Indigenous Television’s (TITV) “Dreamer to True CEO (出力CEO)” and Hakka TV’s “A Meal and A Met: Borderland Surviving (我把旅行變成一道菜)” winning the Best Talk Show and Best Lifestyle Programme, respectively.

Receiving the award on behalf of TITV, executive producer Tseng Yun-han (曾筠涵) highlighted that the “Dreamer to True CEO” production team interviewed indigenous entrepreneurs to share the experience and results of their business ventures. Through the show, she said, the team hopes to encourage other entrepreneurs by underlining the indigenous peoples’ courage and determination when encountering hardships.

Meanwhile, hosted by Michelin star chef Liao Yung-hsun (廖永勛), the “A Meal and A Met: Borderland Surviving” production team travels to Southeast Asian countries and Taiwan’s outlying islands to explore their cuisines. Though it may appear to be lighthearted, the show also touches on pressing issues such as war and survival. Representing the Hakka TV to accept the award, the TV program planner Chung Yi-chin (鍾依芹) said that it’s a lovely surprise to win the award.
