NTCRI, YunTech, École Boulle run sustainable material workshop

The National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute (NTCRI) and the National Yunlin University of Science and Technology’s College of Design (YunTech) co-hosted a workshop on the innovation of crafts made with bamboo and rice-paper plant on Jan. 31. Faculty members and students from French art college École Boulle were invited to the workshop.

The workshop was divided into two phases. The first phase was the preliminary research and exploration of bamboo and rice-paper plant. The students of École Boulle delved into the chemical and biological properties of these two materials, laying a solid foundation for the workshop and providing rich data for further development.

In the second phase, the students from Taiwan and France engaged in an exchange, providing different perspectives on designs, innovations, communication, and collaboration.

Professor Antoine Fermey and lecturer Alexandre Poisson from École Boulle were invited to facilitate the workshop, showing the possibilities of cross-border collaboration on craft-making.

The NTCRI looks forward to more opportunities to work with the French partner in the future, to further foster Taiwan-France craft development and contribute to sustainable craft practices internationally.
