NMH marks its transformation with dazzling fashion show

The National Museum of History (NMH) marked its grand reopening with an inaugural fashion show on Mar. 8, where the museum’s collections were transformed into extravagant fashion pieces.

In his opening speech, Culture Minister Shih Che stated that the NMH, which underwent renovation in 2018, reopened with a bang through this crossover fashion show. He stressed that as the epitome of Taiwan’s culture, the 70-year-old museum’s extensive collections showcase the cultural and creative prowess of multiple generations in the country.

Justin Chou (周裕穎), the show’s curator, expressed his intention to underscore the museum’s commitment to sharing its collections with the public and fostering collaborative relationships with artists. He noted that this grand opening show seamlessly blended traditional and contemporary arts, infusing new life into the museum’s classic collections.

The NMH reopened to the public on Feb. 21 with a new permanent exhibition titled “Discover Our Connections, Right Here (在這裡,與大家相遇),” featuring a selection of 110 artifacts, presenting the social and cultural changes that the NMH has experienced alongside Taiwanese society over the past 70 years.
