To deepen the public understanding of the history of the White Terror in Taiwan, the National Human Rights Museum (NHRM) has created and launched websites that allow visitors to take panoramic virtual tours around the Green Island White Terror Memorial Park, Jing-Mei White Terror Memorial Park, and Ankang Reception House. Through the virtual tour, visitors will be able to learn more about the Historical Sites of Injustice.
Director of the National Human Rights Museum Hung Shih-fang (洪世芳) stated that based on the missions of "Reflections on the Past, Lesson Learned, Looking Ahead," the museum will continue to strive for interdisciplinary collaboration, free access to relevant political information, recreate historical sites of injustice, and host dialogues on contemporary human rights issues as well as participate in international exchanges. The use of digital technology to create a 360-degree view of the three Historical Sites of Injustice is an important aspect of the museum's efforts in recreating these sites.
The three Historical Sites of Injustice are places where political prisoners were detained, prosecuted, tried, and imprisoned during the White Terror period. Through the panoramic virtual tour, NHRM hopes that it will spur the public to learn more about the history and rebuild a collective historical memory.
NHRM has a comprehensive collection of White Terror-related books, archives, research results, and oral history AV records along with Human Rights Education Center and several reading rooms. The museum also organizes human rights-related speeches and workshops.
