'Daniel Lee: N.E.X.T'

An interactive media exhibition titled "Daniel Lee: N.E.X.T” will be available at the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts on March 3 through May 8.

Daniel Lee (李小鏡)is a Taiwanese photographer based in New York who rose to prominence with image-based works that explore human revolution. Some of his most celebrated works such as "Nightlife,” "Manimals,” and "Origin” have been showcased in cities across the world.

The exhibition will reflect Lee'svision of the future through 3D animation, in which his creation of the "Merman (人魚)” will present Lee's concerns over climate change, global warming, and rising sea levels.

The exhibition will lead visitors into the journey with a 3D model of a "Merman” at the entry. Beginning with "Knowing Us (認識我們),” three screens will allow audiences to examine the merman model from different angles by using the motion-sensing technology.

The next is a large projection titled "Return to the Sea (回歸大海),” which shows a high-definition animation of mermans swimming under the sea. Across from the second screen is "Final Closure (終寂),” which presents a ceramic skull of the merman laying on black sand, with images of sea bubbles floating above the skull through projection mapping.
