To commemorate 150 years after the birth of Dr. Sun Yat-sen (孫中山), a Taiwanese-Peking hybrid opera will present the legend of Dr. Sun on Nov. 12 at the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall.
Dr. Sun is widely recognized as father of the nation and the first president of the Republic of China. His unrelenting spirit and efforts in pursuing a peaceful world had transformed Chinese history.
The Peking opera troupe of the National Taiwan College of Performing Arts will interpret the revolutionary life of Dr. Sun with traditional Chinese performing elements, including those from Peking, Hakka, and Taiwanese opera. The literary play will also incorporate acrobatics to invigorate the performance.
The opera will highlight Dr. Sun's personality and show the peaceful development of today's society to pay homage to him.
