A series of free performances featuring Taiwanese inmates has been scheduled for Aug. 13 and 14 at 7:30 P.M. at the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall.

The talent show is part of a correctional program launched by the Ministry of Justice's Agency of Corrections. A total of 238 prisoners from 49 correctional facilities around the country will perform drumming, Sichuan opera, indigenous dances, sand painting, hip-hop songs and chorus singing -- all of which they've spent the past several months practicing.

At the west and east-side of the performance venue, an art exhibition will also be held in conjunction with the "New Beginnings” performances. Visitors will be able to marvel at the delicate handiwork created in prison, and show their support for inmates who are finishing serving their terms.

Free tickets are available from the Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall. For more information, please visit www.yatsen.gov.tw or call (02) 2758-8008 ext. #545 or #546.
